An eco-friendly Christmas.

An eco-friendly Christmas.

I remember when my children were toddlers, filling the recycling and waste bins with packaging and wrapping paper the day after Christmas. A lot of times it was to the point of having no room left over for regular waste!

We've had a tradition for the past few Christmases where each child completes a list.

  • Something I want
  • Something I need
  • Something to wear
  • Something to read
  • Something to do
  • Something for me
  • Something for all of my family

It has worked really well for us in reducing un-necessary items and I have noticed my children spend time chatting to each other about the last "family" gift and working together on deciding on something they all like (and can even include me in)!

I love how this list includes experiences (something to do) as well as practical and necessary items. I am also very keen this year to fully commit to Furoshiki and wrap our gifts in fabric, not paper.
